Northanger Abbey, Persuasion, and the Gothic Novel

The major focus of Ann’s early research and scholarship was on childhood and Romantic literary culture. Her first book, Romanticism and Childhood: The Infantilization of British Literary Culture analyzed how new ideas of childhood enabled new conceptions of history and literary culture. Ann is the winner of the College Career Advancement/Research Enhancement Semester Award from KU, 2024; the Ned Fleming Trust Award for Excellence in Teaching from KU, 2023, as well as the National Humanities Center Fellowship, 2019-2020.
