Ann Rowland, Associate Professor of English, University of Kansas, speaking on “What Jane Austen Learned from the Gothic,” examining Northanger Abbey, Persuasion and the cult of the Gothic novel. Don’t miss this chance to hear Dr. Rowland speak about how Jane Austen’s early love of the Gothic was distilled into the melancholic tone of Persuasion. Dr. Rowland attended Oxford University as a Keasbey Scholar where she completed an M.Phil degree before returning to Yale for her PhD studies. A Zoom link is available for out-of-town members.
