Come join us to celebrate history’s greatest gal pal, Jane Austen. We’ll make friendship bracelets, have some snacks and mocktails, and play Blind Date with a Book (see instructions below) while enjoying our wonderful Austen community!

When: Saturday, February 22, 2-4 P.M.
Where: Sosland Community Room at Jewish Family Services
425 E. 63rd Street
Kansas City, MO 64110
We’re on 63rd Street in Brookside, just between Oak and Cherry Streets. Parking is in the rear and on the west side of the building. If you need an elevator, please use the front door.
What to bring: Your favorite treat to share, and a book to swap!
Blind Date with a Book instructions:
1. Choose an Austen or Austen-esque book that you enjoy. It could be Pride and Prejudice in a pretty binding, a book about Jane Austen or her work, or an adaptation that you think others would love.
2. Wrap up your book, making sure the cover, title, and back cover blurb is obscured–remember, this is a blind date!
3. Write the genre and a one-sentence description of your book on the wrapping, or on a card attached to the book wrapping so that it is easily visible.
4. When you arrive, you’ll display your wrapped book with its description on the book table and you’ll be given a number. When the game starts, you’ll wait until your number is chosen to peruse the book table and choose a new “date” to take home and love.
