Join us on Saturday, April 16, at 2:00 CST for a Zoom presentation by bestselling novelist Candice Hern.

The Zoom link will be emailed to all JASNA-KC members on Friday the 15th.

Fashion in the Time of Jane Austen

Using fashion prints from her collection, Candice will provide an overview of the types of clothing worn during the time of Jane Austen. Candice will explore fashions for various occasions or activities, including day wear, evening wear, and specialty fashions such as court dress, riding habit, and mourning dress. Terms used during the period — such as undress, half dress and full dress — will be explained and illustrated with prints. Popular types of outerwear will also be showcased, including pelisses, spencers, mantles, and shawls. The general evolution of style will also be discussed, including changing waistlines, hemlines, and trimmings.

Easter bonnets are optional but encouraged!

Candice Hern

Candice Hern is the bestselling author of historical romance novels set during the English Regency. Her traditional Regency Romances, her longer Historical Romances, and her Novellas have been featured on both the New York Times and USA Today best-seller lists.
