Benefits of Our Polite Society

The Jane Austen Society of North America is dedicated to the enjoyment and appreciation of Jane Austen and her writing.  JASNA is a nonprofit organization staffed by volunteers, with approximately 4,800 members in over 70 regional groups in the United States and Canada.  Our members are of all ages and come from diverse walks of life, yet we share an enjoyment of Austen’s fiction and the company of like-minded readers.

Annual and Lifetime Membership in JASNA is available at various levels. Each includes:
-    A subscription to The JASNA News published three times a year
-    A copy of Persuasions, our annual scholarly journal
-    An invitation to our Annual General Meeting held at a different North American city each year
-    Special travel and research opportunities
-    Association with Austen-related sites in England for restoration and preservation

Please note that our membership year runs September 1 through August 31. Members who join in July or August are automatically enrolled for the following membership year. Why not save yourself the trouble of renewing and become a Lifetime Member!

To join or read more about JASNA,  visit our website at jasna.org

The Metropolitan Kansas City Region spans to include the entire state of Kansas and western Missouri. We have over 70 members who come together throughout the year to celebrate the genius of Jane Austen. Our group includes a wide range of ages and interests, from film buffs to scholars. No matter how you were first introduced to the author’s works, you’re welcome to join us and share our passion for all things Austen.

Area residents who join JASNA  automatically become a part of JASNA-KC.
